Making It Work In A Bad Economy

Ever since our economy has seen a huge decline, it has been hard to get back to a good place. Jobs are still low and the bills are increasing. In the entertainment industry it is especially hard to get your foot in the door because jobs are limited, and the jobs that are available go to the people who have made the right connections. In order to become one of those people it is important to know a couple of things. First networking is everything. In order to make a name for yourself in this cutthroat industry you have to be able to network and really show who you are. When attending events it is important to make yourself stand out. You can do this by making a creative business card or wearing a staple item of clothing that would set you apart from others. When you meet someone and exchange emails, you can use that staple item to start the conversation by allowing that person to remember who you are based on what you were wearing that day. After networking it is also important to know the benefits of free labor. Of course no one wants to do anything for free, everyone is always looking for some type of compensation for his or her hard work but sometimes free labor can be extremely beneficial. Most entry-level entertainment jobs are offered to interns who have worked for the company for free or college credit, and have proven themselves worth of hire. Internships are a great way for aspiring people to work among the people who they admire, learn great hands on industry knowledge and hopefully be offered a position. It is harder for someone to come into a entertainment business or any business for the matter, and be offered a job without proper experience and without connections within the company. By doing the internship who get to network, meet new people, get great connections, and hopefully use it in the future to land you the job of your dreams.
